It's almost Summer, and that means getting yourself ready for sand, sun, and swim! Everyone has a bikini body, but if you want to tone up and feel your best before you hit the beach, check out these 5 exercises to feel fit for a swimsuit photo shoot.
Tone Your Arms
Try the classic push up, the modified push up (with knees on the ground), or the diamond push up (when you make your pointer fingers and thumbs create a diamond on the floor). After push ups, grab a chair and do some reverse push ups: sit on the edge of the seat with your hands on the chair on either side of your waist, scoot forward and lift up and down using your arm muscles.
Tone Your Core
Set a timer and plank for 1-3 minutes, depending on your fitness level. After this, do side planks on each side, either holding for a set time or raising your hips for 3 sets of 15 reps. If your core still isn't on fire after multiple reps of these planks, do 3 sets of 20 reps of scissor sit ups: do a regular sit up, but lift one leg to the sky each crunch.
Butt Lifting Exercises
Squats are the frenemy of your butt muscles. You want to hate ‘em, but you love ‘em. Do 3 sets of 20 reps of squats, then give your booty a break. When you're ready, get on all fours and do 3 reps of 20 lifting one leg to the sky, still bent. You are literally lifting your butt. Repeat on the other side and get ready to be called "cutie with a booty."
Tone Your Legs
Grab a chair (or hold on to a barre) and let your inner ballerina free! Put your feet together at the heel and squat - you're doing a plié. After doing regular pliés, go deeper until your heels are all the way off the ground, a grand plié. Go back to regular pliés after grand pliés, but this time on your tip toes. Dancer's legs look good on you!
Back Toning Exercises
Start with a simple bridge pose; lay on your back with your feet pulled closer to your body and knees bent. Raise your butt and back and hold; either continue to hold for a set time or do 20 lift reps. Flip over and do the "Superman" pose; lift both your arms and legs off the ground, straight and as high as possible. Hold for 1-3 minutes.
